1996 U.S. Olympic women’s team Hall of Fame NBA

The 1996 U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team was one of the most dominant teams in women’s basketball history and a landmark group in the growth of the women’s professional game. Coached by Tara VanDerveer, the team captured the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with a perfect 8–0 record, winning its games by an average of more than 30 points.

The team's success had an impact beyond its Olympic achievement. Its dominant performance helped raise the international profile of women's basketball and played an important role in building momentum for the WNBA, which launched later in 1996. The team was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.
