Bernard Carnevale Hall of Fame NBA

Bernard Carnevale was one of college basketball's most respected coaches and administrators. His legacy was cemented in the collegiate ranks, where he was a highly respected head coach and a prominent figure in amateur and international basketball administration. Carnevale began his head coaching career at the University of North Carolina, remarkably leading the Tar Heels to the NCAA Championship game in 1946 during just his second season.

He then transitioned to the United States Naval Academy, where he served as head coach for two decades (1946–1966), establishing Navy as a formidable East Coast power. Beyond the sidelines, Carnevale was a pivotal executive, serving on the NCAA Basketball Tournament Committee and playing a major role in USA Basketball.

For his sustained excellence in coaching and his profound dedication to the amateur game, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 1970.
