History of the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC
Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, also known as Wolves, is a professional football club based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. Founded in 1877 and one of the oldest clubs still playing top-flight football today, Wolves have an illustrious history, including three league titles and four FA cups.
Since their inception over 130 years ago, they have been at the forefront of English Football, winning multiple trophies and becoming one of only five teams to win all three major domestic honors (League title; FA Cup, League Cup). The most recent success came with a promotion to the Premier League for the 2018/19 season after winning the 2017/18 Championship title under manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s guidance. This was made even more remarkable by achieving a record points total for any second-tier team since its formation in 2004.
The current squad is full of talent from around Europe, including World Cup winner Ruben Neves who joined from Porto, along with Diogo Jota, who has impressed since his move from Atletico Madrid last summer – both players were instrumental in helping them achieve promotion the previous season alongside experienced stars like Conor Coady & Raul Jimenez. As well as this, there are youngsters such as Morgan Gibbs-White & Ryan Giles coming through, making it clear why many believe that this team could be serious contenders for European competition within just a few seasons if they can continue on their upward trajectory!
