2026 - Argonauts NCAA Division I journey starts

The University of West Florida Argonauts have initiated a monumental transition to NCAA Division I athletics, officially taking effect in Fall 2026. Following a unanimous Board of Trustees approval on April 2, 2026, the decorated program leaves Division II after a legacy-defining era. The Argonauts will join the Atlantic Sun Conference as a full multi-sport member, while the football program battles in the United Athletic Conference at the FCS level. Backed by 11 national championships, this institutional leap vastly expands UWF’s national visibility, cementing their arrival into the highest tier of collegiate sports competition.
