Since then, other America East Conference teams have recorded upsets, including Boston University’s victories and Stony Brook’s run to the later rounds of March Madness, which further raised the conference’s national profile.
Beyond basketball, the success of America East Conference schools extends into other sports. Maine dominated baseball with multiple titles between 2009 and 2012. Albany has been a powerhouse in softball, winning several championships since 2002. In men’s soccer, UMBC captured back-to-back titles, while women’s lacrosse saw UMass Lowell earn its first championship title after defeating defending champion Albany, marking another milestone for the conference.
