Barney Sedran, nicknamed the "Mighty Mite," was one of the greatest professional basketball players of the early 20th century and one of the most accomplished guards of the pre-NBA era. Despite standing only 5 feet 4 inches tall, Sedran became renowned for his speed,ball-handling, passing, shooting and basketball intelligence. He turned professional in 1911 and starred for several leading professional teams, most notably the Utica Utes and New York Whirlwinds.
Sedran led multiple teams to league championships and helped Utica win the 1914 World Professional Championship. He was considered one of the highest-paid professional basketball stars of his era and became the shortest player ever inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1962 as a player.
