Charles Hyatt was one of the outstanding scorers of the early 20th century and one of the most accomplished players of the pre-NBA era. An exceptional shooter, Hyatt starred for the University of Pittsburgh from 1927 to 1930 and led the Panthers to national championships in 1928 and 1930.
He earned All-American honors three consecutive times and led the nation in scoring twice. In 1930, he was named the Helms Foundation Player of the Year after averaging 12.6 points per game. Hyatt later enjoyed a successful AAU career.
He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1959 as a player.
