Danny Crawford was one of the most respected referees in NBA history, officiating at the highest level for 32 seasons from 1985 to 2017. Known for his calm temperament, game control, and ability to communicate with players and coaches, Crawford developed a reputation for staying out of the spotlight while maintaining control of difficult games. He officiated more than 2,000 regular-season games, over 300 playoff games, and 30 NBA Finals contests.
His most remarkable achievement was working the NBA Finals in 23 consecutive seasons, from 1995 through 2017. Crawford also officiated three NBA All-Star Games. He retired after Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals, which completed his record-setting Finals streak. His longevity, consistency, and professionalism earned him induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025 as a referee.
