Roger Craig is one of the most versatile and influential running backs in NFL history, serving as a dual-threat focal point in head coach Bill Walsh’s "West Coast" offense during the San Francisco 49ers' 1980s dynasty. Selected in the second round of the 1983 NFL Draft out of Nebraska, Craig spent 11 seasons in the league with the 49ers (1983–1990), Los Angeles Raiders (1991), and Minnesota Vikings (1992–1993).
Renowned for his high-knee running style and elite pass-catching ability, Craig made history in 1985 as the first player in NFL history to record 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. A four-time Pro Bowler, 1988 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and three-time Super Bowl champion, he was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.
