Sylvia Fowles was one of the most dominant centers and defensive players in WNBA history, known for her strength, athleticism, rebounding, shot-blocking, efficient scoring and outstanding defensive presence. Selected second overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2008 WNBA Draft, Fowles quickly established herself as one of the league's premier interior players.

She later joined the Minnesota Lynx in 2015 and became a key part of the team's championship success, winning two WNBA titles and two Finals MVP awards. Fowles was also named WNBA MVP in 2017 and Defensive Player of the Year four times. She finished her career as the WNBA's all-time leader in rebounds and field-goal percentage. With Team USA, she won four Olympic gold medals and a FIBA World Championship.

She was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025.
