Missouri Valley School History
The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) is one of the oldest and most storied conferences in college sports. Founded in 1907, it has been home to some of NCAA history's most remarkable teams and athletes. From legendary coaches like Eddie Hickey to Hall-of-Famers such as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Joe Dumars, and Bob Knight—the MVC has a rich tradition that every sports fan should be familiar with.
As one of only two Division I basketball conferences without a football program (the other being The Ivy League), the MVC focuses exclusively on men's basketball but also sponsors several additional collegiate sports, including baseball, golf, tennis, and soccer for both men’s & women’s programs. With 10 members spread across seven states – Arkansas State University; Bradley University, Drake University, Indiana State University, Loyola Chicago Ramblers, Missouri State Bears; Northern Iowa Panthers, Southern Illinois Salukis; Valparaiso Crusaders & Wichita State Shockers — this conference boasts an impressive list of alumni from all walks life who have gone on to achieve success at both professional levels within their respective sport or industry outside athletics altogether!
As any true fan knows - there are few things more exciting than attending an event held by this historic conference! Whether you're cheering on your favorite team at Arch Madness Tournament or watching them compete against rival schools during regular season play - there's nothing quite like experiencing firsthand what makes these universities so unique: their passionate student sections, iconic arenas/stadiums, unique traditions, spirited mascots/cheerleaders ... And if you're lucky enough to attend games involving multiple schools? Well, then, get ready for some interconference severe pride! It doesn't matter which school you root for when it comes down to crunch time - because everyone wants bragging rights over each other, no matter how much they may disagree throughout the rest of the year 😉
