About the Dallas Cowboys

cowboys history
The Dallas Cowboys are known for their blue and silver team colors, which stand out starkly against the green football field.

The team was founded in 1960 and owned by Clint Murchison Jr. He hired general manager Tex Schramm and head coach Tom Landry and quickly saw success when winning their first season in 1966.  Tom Landry is the team’s “winningest coach,” with 250 wins, 162 losses, and six ties. The 1966 win set into motion a 20-year consecutive winning streak.

They continued to dominate in the 1970s and 80s, winning two Super Bowls and getting the nickname “America’s Team.” This nickname was due to the team having many fans outside of the team’s city.

As America’s Team, images of the players and famous Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders were promoted. This was done through The Dallas Cowboys Newsweekly (which had 100,000 sales), as well as team souvenirs and apparel.

In 1986 the winning streak came to an abrupt end when the team suffered their first losing season. The new owner, H.R. Bright who bought the team from the successful Murchison, sold the down-on-their-luck team to Jerry Jones in 1989. Jones replaced coach Tom Landry with Jimmy Johnson, who was up for the challenge.

Between 1992 and 1995, the Cowboys broke records when winning three out of four Super Bowls. This incredible feat was achieved under the tutelage of head coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. The team won the Super Bowl five times out of eight appearances.

Not done with breaking records yet, the Dallas Cowboys became the most valuable sports team in the world when they were valued at $5 billion. Today, the team holds on to that title, valued at $9 billion.

Betting on the Cowboys

As of 2024, the team’s division standings are 12-5 (Win-Lose-Tie), ranked 5th best in 2023. The team’s odds to win the 2025 Super Bowl is +1800. Despite winning the NFC East Division with 12-5 last season, they last to the Green Bay Packers during the playoffs. If you want to wager your bets on the team to win the NFC, make the playoffs, or be undefeated, offshore sportsbooks are becoming extremely popular for their privacy, bonuses, and fast sign-up options. Wrap Up

Despite these unlikely odds, the Cowboys have surprised punters in the past. Their last Super Bowl appearance and win may have been in 1996, but the 20-year winning streak has not been forgotten. Owner Jerry Jones and current head coach Mike McCarthy are working hard to reinstate the team’s success.
