2021 - 2Weber State men’s basketball team wins its fifth Big Sky Conference
The 2020-2021 Weber State men’s basketball team was coached by Randy Rahe, who has been at the helm of the program since 2006.
Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the team was able to play a full season and finished with a record of 17-6 overall and 12-3 in conference play.
Weber State entered the Big Sky Conference Tournament as the top seed and defeated Montana State, Southern Utah, and Montana in succession to win the championship.
The championship marked Weber State’s fifth Big Sky Conference title, with previous championships coming in 1965, 1970, 2003, and 2007.
As champions of the Big Sky Conference, Weber State earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
In the first round of the tournament, Weber State faced the 3rd-seeded Kansas Jayhawks, but were unable to pull off the upset and lost by a score of 65-62.
Despite the loss, the tournament appearance marked Weber State’s fifth overall and their first since 2016.
Over the years, Weber State men’s basketball has established itself as a consistent contender in the Big Sky Conference and has produced a number of notable players, including NBA All-Star Damian Lillard.
