In 2023 Former University of Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops has found success on another gridiron after leading the Arlington Renegades to an XFL title.

The Renegades defeated the DC Defenders 35-26 on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio to win the 2023 XFL championship. Quarterback Luis Perez threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns, earning him the XFL Championship Most Valuable Player.

Stoops’ team scored on six of its first seven possessions, jumping out to a 17-0 lead before holding a 20-6 lead at halftime. The Defenders, who entered the game with a 10-1 record, fought back in the second half but eventually lost by nine.

The title is the latest Stoops can claim following an illustrious career while in Norman. Stoops accumulated 191 wins as well as one national and 10 Big 12 titles while at OU.
