2017 - Central Arkansas Bears football team wins the Southland Conference championship

In 2017, the Central Arkansas Bears football team won the Southland Conference championship. The team finished the regular season with an 8-1 conference record, which earned them the conference title and a spot in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Bears faced off against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats, winning the game 21-15. In the second round, they faced off against the University of Northern Iowa Panthers and won 34-14. However, they lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual national champions, the North Dakota State Bison.

The Southland Conference championship was the fourth in program history for the Central Arkansas Bears football team, and their first since 2012. They finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 10-2.
