2023 - Coach Prime – Deion Sanders leads Colorado Buffaloes to a historic season

Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, has made history in his first year as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. The former NFL star and Hall of Famer took over the struggling program in December 2022, after leading Jackson State University to two consecutive SWAC championships and an undefeated season in 2022. Sanders brought his charisma, passion and vision to Boulder, Colorado, and transformed the culture and performance of the Buffaloes.

In the 2023 season, Sanders led the Buffaloes to a 12-1 record, winning the Pac-12 South division and defeating Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game. The Buffaloes also earned a spot in the College Football Playoff, where they will face Alabama in the semifinal. This is the first time that Colorado has reached the playoff since its inception in 2014, and the first time that a Pac-12 team has made it since 2016.

Sanders has also recruited some of the top talent in the nation, including Travis Hunter, the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 class who followed Sanders from Jackson State to Colorado. Hunter is a versatile athlete who plays both cornerback and wide receiver, and has been compared to Sanders himself. Sanders has also developed some of the existing players on the roster, such as quarterback Shedeur Sanders, his son who transferred from Jackson State, and running back Andre’ Hart, who led the nation in rushing yards and touchdowns.

Sanders has been praised for his innovative and entertaining style of coaching, which has been documented in the Prime Video docuseries “Coach Prime”. The series follows Sanders and his team on and off the field, showing how he motivates, mentors and challenges his players. Sanders has also brought national attention to Colorado football, attracting celebrities, sponsors and media outlets to Boulder.

Sanders has said that his goal is to win a national championship with Colorado, and to make a positive impact on his players and the community. He has also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to coach at Colorado, and his appreciation for the fans and supporters who have embraced him and his team. He has said that he is living his dream as Coach Prime.
