In the 2013-2014 season, Fordham’s men’s basketball team, coached by Tom Pecora, had an impressive regular season with a record of 25-8 and finished at the top of the Atlantic 10 Conference standings. The team was led by senior guard Branden Frazier, who averaged 18.2 points per game and was named to the All-Conference First Team.
Fordham’s success that season was largely due to its high-powered offense, which led the conference in scoring at 77.4 points per game. The team also boasted a balanced attack, with four players averaging double-digit points, including Frazier, junior guard Jon Severe, senior forward Ryan Canty, and sophomore guard Mandell Thomas.
Despite their success in the regular season, Fordham was upset in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament by George Mason, ending their hopes of making it to the NCAA Tournament. Nonetheless, the team’s regular season championship was a historic achievement for Fordham basketball, as it was the first time since 1991 that the team had finished atop a conference standings.
