2012 - The men’s basketball team wins the Atlantic 10 Conference championship

In the 2011-2012 season, the Massachusetts Minutemen men’s basketball team won the Atlantic 10 Conference championship, led by head coach Derek Kellogg and star player Chaz Williams. The team finished the regular season with a record of 20-10 and then won the A-10 tournament with victories over Temple, Charlotte, and Saint Louis. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament as a #6 seed but were eliminated in the second round by #3 seed Florida State in a close game, 67-71. It was the Minutemen’s third appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with their previous appearances coming in 1992 and 1998.
