2007 - The Portland State Vikings men’s basketball team wins the Big Sky Conference

In 2007, the Portland State Vikings men’s basketball team had a historic season by winning the Big Sky Conference championship for the first time in school history. They finished the regular season with a 23-9 record and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, they upset the #4 seed University of Washington Huskies 77-75 in overtime, marking the first NCAA Tournament victory in school history. The Vikings were led by guard Deonte Huff, who scored 23 points in the game.

Despite a valiant effort, the Vikings lost to the eventual national champion Florida Gators in the second round of the tournament, ending their Cinderella run. The team was coached by Ken Bone and featured notable players like Deonte Huff, Scott Morrison, and Jeremiah Dominguez.
