The Major League Soccer (MLS) Championship Series between the Columbus Crew and Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) was a thrilling affair with soccer fans worldwide on edge. The series, which began with a 1-1 draw in Columbus, Ohio, on October 25th, culminated in an exciting 3-2 victory for LAFC at Banc of California Stadium to win their first MLS Cup title.
Throughout the two legs of this championship series, both teams showed incredible skill and determination as they battled it out for supremacy. In leg one, we saw goals from Gyasi Zardes for Columbus Crew, and Diego Rossi’s goal late in extra time gave LAFC hope heading into leg two back home at Banc of California Stadium.
In Leg Two, we saw another entertaining game where each team took turns dominating possession. Still, ultimately, it was Carlos Vela’s brace that sealed the victory for LAFC, who were crowned MLS Champions after winning 4-3 on aggregate scoreline over 2 legs against an experienced Columbus side led by USMNT veteran Wil Trapp, who fought until the end despite being down to 10 men due to red card shown early second half.
It was an exciting match-up between these two sides throughout this championship series, with plenty of drama. Now, all eyes turn towards the 2021 season, when both teams will look forward to challenging again next year!
