1996 - Tribe’s conference championship

The William & Mary Tribe are a college football team competes in CAA Football, a single-sport NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision conference operated by the Tribe’s primary athletic home of the Coastal Athletic Association. The football team has won eight conference championships. While a member of the Southern Conference, W&M were champions or co-champions in 1942, 1947, 1966, and 1970. The Tribe won the Mid-Atlantic Division in 1993 and won the conference championship in 1996. After the Yankee Conference’s 1997 merger with the A-10 Conference, the Tribe were co-champions in 2001 and 2004. After the Colonial Athletic Association began sponsoring football with the 2007 season, the Tribe were co-champions in 2010 and in 2015.
