In 2003, the University of Toledo Rockets baseball team won its second Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship, marking the first time in school history that the team had won multiple conference championships. Coached by Joe Meyers, the Rockets finished the season with a 35-27 overall record and a 19-9 record in MAC play.

The Rockets were led by a strong pitching staff that included All-MAC first team selections Mark Leonard and Jake Parker. Leonard finished the season with a 9-4 record and a 3.77 ERA, while Parker had a 7-4 record and a 3.62 ERA. The team also featured a potent offense, with All-MAC first team outfielder Nick McIntyre batting .363 with 10 home runs and 60 RBIs on the season.

Toledo’s championship run began in the MAC tournament, where they defeated Ball State and Eastern Michigan to advance to the championship game. In the title game, the Rockets faced the Kent State Golden Flashes and won a hard-fought 7-6 victory to claim the championship.

The Rockets went on to play in the NCAA tournament, where they faced the top-ranked Rice Owls in the opening round. Despite a valiant effort, the Rockets were unable to pull off the upset, losing to Rice 10-2. Nevertheless, the 2003 season was a historic one for the Toledo baseball program, as they claimed their second MAC championship and cemented their status as one of the top teams in the conference.
