1892 - Team of All Talents Crowned

The 1891–92 season was Sunderland’s second campaign as a Football League club, and it proved historic. After a sluggish start that saw them lose their first three away games, Sunderland went on to win all but two of their remaining matches, including a thirteen-game winning streak. The club finished the season as English champions for the first time, winning all 13 of their home league games under manager Tom Watson. Forward John Campbell ended the campaign as the league’s top scorer with 31 goals in all competitions, and the title marked the birth of the legendary “Team of All Talents” era.
