The Reign FC history began in 2012 when Seattle Reign FC was founded as one of the original clubs in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). From its debut season in 2013, the reign football club quickly built a reputation for creativity, precision, and passion, becoming a respected name in women’s professional soccer.
Led by talented players such as Megan Rapinoe, Kim Little, and Jess Fishlock, the Seattle Reign FC dominated the league’s early years. The team’s commitment to attacking football earned them back-to-back NWSL Shields in 2014 and 2015 for finishing first in the regular season. These victories cemented their place among the most successful clubs in NWSL history.
Over the years, the reign football club has played at several venues, including Starfire Sports Complex, Memorial Stadium, and Cheney Stadium, before moving to Lumen Field in 2022.
