2026 - Breakers Team Formation

The Rhode Island Breakers were established on September 23, 2026, when the United Football League (UFL) announced Rhode Island as one of its new expansion markets for the 2027 season. Based in Pawtucket, the franchise will bring professional spring football to the Ocean State, with Centreville Bank Stadium selected as its home venue. On October 18, 2026, the team officially unveiled its name, logo and colors during a public launch event attended by thousands of fans. Former Birmingham Stallions head coach A.J. McCarron was appointed to lead the new franchise, with the 2026 Birmingham roster providing its initial player foundation. The Breakers name celebrates Rhode Island’s maritime heritage and powerful coastal waves.
