The 1913 Missouri State Bears baseball team played their inaugural game on April 11, 1913, against Drury College. The game was played in Springfield, Missouri, and the Bears emerged victorious with a score of 9-5. The game marked the beginning of the Bears’ baseball program, which has since become one of the most successful sports programs at the university.
During their inaugural season, the Bears played a total of six games, finishing with a record of 3-3. Despite the limited number of games, the team showed promise and set the foundation for future success. Over the years, the Bears baseball program has won numerous conference championships, regional championships, and made several appearances in the NCAA Division II and Division I tournaments.
Today, Missouri State Bears baseball continues to be a major force in college baseball, consistently ranking among the top teams in the Missouri Valley Conference and the nation. The team plays their home games at Hammons Field in Springfield, which is also the home field for the Springfield Cardinals, a minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
