One of the most famous players from Florida Gulf Coast University is Sherwood Brown, who played for the men’s basketball team from 2009 to 2013. Brown was a key player on the Eagles team that made a historic run in the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, becoming the first 15th seed to reach the Sweet 16. Brown was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference tournament and was also named to the All-Tournament team for the NCAA tournament that year. He finished his career at Florida Gulf Coast University as the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,863 points.
