2007 - The Central Michigan football team wins its second MAC championship

In 2007, the Central Michigan football team won its second Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship. The Chippewas, led by head coach Butch Jones, finished the regular season with a record of 8-5 overall and 6-2 in the MAC.

The championship season was highlighted by several key victories, including a 35-10 win over arch-rival Western Michigan that clinched the MAC West Division title for the Chippewas. Central Michigan also recorded victories over Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, and Toledo during the season.

The team was led by several standout players, including quarterback Dan LeFevour, running back Ontario Sneed, and wide receiver Bryan Anderson. LeFevour was the team’s leader on offense, throwing for 3,652 yards and 27 touchdowns, while Sneed rushed for 901 yards and 10 touchdowns. Anderson was the team’s top receiver, catching 91 passes for 1,293 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Central Michigan’s MAC championship in 2007 marked a significant achievement for the university’s football program, and set the stage for future success. The Chippewas have gone on to win several more MAC championships since then, and have become one of the most respected football programs in the conference.
