1938 - The men’s basketball team wins the New England Conference

In the 1937-38 season, the Massachusetts Minutemen men’s basketball team, led by head coach Johnny Orr, finished with a 12-5 overall record and a 9-1 conference record, winning the New England Conference championship. This was the first conference championship in the history of the program, and the team was led by captain Herm Klotz. The Minutemen continued to dominate the conference for the next few years, winning the championship again in 1941 and 1942.
