Edgar Diddle NBA Hall of Fame

Edgar Diddle was one of the most successful and respected college basketball coaches of the 20th century. As head coach at Western Kentucky University from 1922 to 1964, he transformed the Hilltoppers into a national powerhouse through disciplined play, strong fundamentals, and an up-tempo offense. For 42 seasons, Diddle was the heart and soul of the Western Kentucky University (WKU) Hilltoppers. A pioneer of the fast-break offense, he implemented a high-speed, run-and-gun style decades before it became the industry standard.

His 1948 team finished 3rd nationally and the 1954 team finished 4th. Diddle's teams led the NCAA in victories six seasons and had the highest winning percentage in 1948. When he retired in 1964, he had won a then record 759 games. For his immense contributions to the game, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 1972.
