Nickname
Guardians – The Orlando Guardians quickly became a fan favorite as the XFL's newest team. But what do we know about their name? Where did it come from, and why was it chosen for this new football franchise? Let's take a look at the origins of this unique nickname!
The name “Guardians” was chosen to honor those who serve and protect in Central Florida. The organization wanted to pay tribute to all those who put their lives on the line daily, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, first responders, and our military members. It is also meant as an homage to all citizens working together in our community – both on and off the field – with unity being one of its core values.
The logo itself is inspired by classic art Deco designs often seen around downtown Orlando – which further ties into how much pride they take in representing their city through sportsmanship and excellence. Additionally, each player will be wearing patches featuring an eagle holding two lightning bolts - symbolizing strength & courage - during home games as another way for them to show support towards these individuals that give so much back every day without expecting anything in return other than respect & admiration from us fans!
Ultimately though, no matter where you look or what you read about them, there’s no denying that when people think “Orlando Guardians,” they instantly associate it with a hard work ethic combined with solid character traits such as loyalty & integrity - something we can all get behind cheering for each game day!

History of Guardians
The Orlando Guardians are a professional American football team that plays in the XFL. Founded in 2020, they are among the eight teams competing for the championship title this season. The Guardians have a rich history and tradition of success on and off the field, making them one of the most beloved teams among sports fans around America.
The first incarnation of an Orlando-based football team was formed in 1972 when Florida State University's coach Tom Nugent founded what would become known as “Orlando’s Team”: The Florida Blazers. Although their time did not last long due to financial issues, it set up what would eventually become today's version under new ownership - Vince McMahon and Alpha Entertainment LLC., who purchased rights to form an XFL franchise based out of Central Florida area with help from local investors such as Joe Ritchie & James Kirtley Jr.
In 2019, just before its inaugural season kickoff on February 8th, 2020, the organization announced its official name – “Orlando Guardians,” paying homage to its military roots with images depicting soldiers standing guard at various locations throughout Central FL. With strong leadership from head coach Doug Marrone (formerly Buffalo Bills/Jacksonville Jaguars) alongside offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski (formerly Green Bay Packers), defensive coordinator Steve Wilks (former Arizona Cardinals HC) & special teams coordinator Mike Shula( former Alabama Crimson Tide OC). It is clear that this organization has put together some experienced minds behind its mission statement, which reads "To champion both on & off field."
As we look ahead to the 2021 season, all eyes will be watching how these guardians perform individually and collectively during this unprecedented year within our nation. All sports fans can agree there is nothing more exciting than seeing your favorite team compete against others while striving for excellence each week! Get 'em, Guardian!!
